Karen Laken (b. 1968 in London, UK) is a contemporary figurative painter working primarily in oils. Karen trained in design and later transitioned to painting to expand her creative freedom.

Through her work, Karen reflects on the emotion of the fleeting pause, those moments both mundane and magical, experienced by all but unique to the individual. Influenced by loss and her extensive travels, she works to create a stillness and calm in her paintings, difficult to achieve in todays hectic world.

Karen currently resides and works from her studio on the South Coast of England.

“You cannot fail as an artist, it is a success just to be one”
